COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 15, 2014) – Conservation Voters of South Carolina has announced theendorsement of eight House candidates for election and re-election to the state legislature. The candidates come from both major parties and represent a cross-section of South Carolinians.
CVSC-endorsed candidates for open seats:
District 3—Pickens: Gary Clary (R)
District 5—Pickens: Neal Collins (R)
CVSC-endorsed candidates for re-election
District 4—Pickens: Davey Hiott (R)
District 17—Greenville: Mike Burns (R)
District 21—Greenville: Phyllis Henderson (R)
District 24—Greenville: Bruce Bannister (R)
District 79—Richland: Mia McLeod (D)
District 94—Dorchester: Jenny Horne (R)
District 96—Lexington: Kit Spires (R)
“The candidates we are endorsing support the Conservation Bank because they know that South Carolinians value their natural heritage. Farming, forestry, tourism and outdoor recreationdrive our state’s economy,” said Jay James, CVSC Board Chairman. “These candidates believeconservation and economic development can be parallel paths toward a prosperous future.”
“We welcome the opportunity to recognize those incumbents who are now voting more often for conservation,” said Ann Timberlake, CVSC Executive Director. “And we look forward to building better relationships with new Representatives in the Upstate. I’m excited to see a new era for collaboration when it comes to protecting the South Carolina we love.”
